Whenever you’re starting something new – usually out of your comfort zone – there’s always that little voice that questions everything. That voice is self-doubt and is heard by many: entrepreneurs, the best athletes, artists, and possibly the person sitting next to your right now.
It’s normal to second-guess your decisions. As an entrepreneur, especially if you’re venturing into the property business, you need to hush the noise to ensure it doesn’t become a challenge running your business.
Here are 3 ways to overcome your self-doubt as an entrepreneur:
1. Accept it…then move on
You can’t ignore the elephant in the room. Acknowledging it and being aware makes it more visible to you and makes it less scary. So now you know it’s there and when it becomes overwhelming, tell yourself that you can do it!
2. Stop comparing yourself to others
Self-doubt is usually the brainchild of comparison. In the age of the internet, it’s easy to go down a rabbit hole of reading success stories and question why you haven’t achieved success within the same timeframe. Remember that we all have different paths. The trick is to learn from these entrepreneurs’ mistakes so that you can learn.
3. Build your power group
If you’re growing your business alone, it’s easy to isolate yourself – this is where self-doubt succeeds the most. Build an inner circle of entrepreneurs who can help you bounce ideas and to help guide you.
If you’re afraid to fail, you’ll never move forward. So in a sense, self-doubt is helpful and keeps you grounded. However, the trick is to never let it cloud your judgement.
